Free Office Suite Alternative to OpenOffice
Release Date: 01-15-13
Apache OpenOffice (AOO) is an open-source office productivity software suite containing word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, graphics, formula editor, and database management applications. It is a free alternative to Microsoft Office. However, it adopts an interface that differs from Microsoft Office, and sometimes it is a bit difficult for new users to get used to it. If you are looking for other good replacement that is both free and user friendly, you can try Kingsoft Office - a compatible alternative to Microsoft Office.
Kingsoft free Office for Windows is well received by users all over the world. Beside Office for Windows, there is also Kingsoft Office for Android. They are compatible with all Microsoft Office file formats and can help users create documents, workbooks and presentations easily and fast, and most importantly, with no cost.
OpenOffice VS Kingsoft
Take word processor Writer as an example, Kingsoft looks similar to the Microsoft Office 2003 interface. Click the following picture for larger view. The paragraph layout and font style in Kingsoft is more close to MS Office than OpenOffice.
Multiple tabs: In Kingsoft Office, files are opened in tabs under the same program window. While OpenOffice and Microsoft Office are the same, the files are opened in different program windows.
Paragraph layout tool: In Kingsoft Writer, the paragraph spacing can be adjusted conveniently by using the paragraph layout feature. Click to view larger screenshot of the above Kingsoft figure.
Table adjustment tool: In Kingsoft Writer, inserting new rows and columns can be really easy. See this guide to use the table function: Steps to use Table Function.

“I have been on the lookout for MS Office replacement suites that can reliably open Excel 2007/2010 files – in reasonable time. OpenOffice is a lottery while LibreOffice takes forever to load a file that contains pivot data.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the Kingsoft Office Suite (I’m using the free version). Even complex Excel spreadsheets loaded quickly. The filters also work properly. In just a day of use, you have a new convert in me!”

“Absolutely love this office suite. I ran OpenOffice for few years and I saw this Kingsoft Office advertised in Foxit PDF reader, so I thought I would give it a whirl to see how it was. And your office suite is smaller in file size.
To my surprise I really liked it. It is quicker and better GUI than LibreOffice. I also find that it is VERY similar to MS Office - right down to the Word Art. I now uninstalled LibreOffice and use Kingsoft!!!! I've also been recommending it to friends, who also found it better than what they were using.”

“I've been using OpenOffice and LibreOffice for some time but your software is much quicker and better, even emerging Windows (for example the drop down list filling spreadsheet cells, very useful!). And this is only after one day trial. ”

“I've been trying Kingsoft Office 2012 on my desktop PC to replace OpenOffice and LibreOffice and it seems to be better than those. ”

"You have a very interesting alternative to MS. I have been using OpenOffice or LibreOffice, but yours seems to be even closer to a clone of MS, so moving from one to the other seems more intuitive."

"I've just downloaded your product after researching alternative suites to Microsoft. I'm impressed.
OpenOffice: I opened a document I have made in MS Word 2007. All formattings are lost, some fonts completely different. I had to re-edit the entire document and save it as a doc file.
Kingsoft Office (Writer): I opened the same document from MS Office-no problems at all, no lost formatting, all fonts accurate.
Great job, Kingsoft!"
